- canine parainfluenza virus (CPIV) or bordetella bronchiseptica
- very (aersolized resp secretions or fomites)

- acute onset of loud, hacking cough. usually increased production of mucus
- dogs typically continue to eat and are active
- how long is clinical course?
A
- 7 to 14 days

- CBC normal unless pneumonia
- may see pneumonia on radio

- treat as outpatient if possible. Aggressive tx if pneumonia is present
- most cases are treated with what 3 abx?
- when should you use antitussives?
- can use corticosteroids - but not if what present?
A
- doxycycline, amoxicillin, or azithromycin
- when cough is non-productive (not if productive)
- pneumonia
