  • Ex: non-blistering sunburn
  • Heals as part of the inflammatory process

Partial-thickness

A
  • Through the epidermis, possibly into but NOT through the dermis
  • Ex: abrasions, blisters, skin tears
  • Heals by re-epithelialization or epidermal resurfacing (depending on depth)

  • Through the dermis into deeper structures, such as subcutaneous fat
