Work2 Joints Flashcards
What are the three Functional Joint cavities of ROM and what is the difference between them
Synarthrosis- (Skull) non moving joint can have collagen fibers or cartilaginous extremely strong joint
Amphiarthrosis-(tibia, fibula, pelvic girdle) slightly moveable joint reasonably strong fibrous or cartilaginous
Diarthrosis/Synovial joint-(appendages) freely moving joint divided by planes of movement
- The most freely moving joints (knee/hip/shoulder) are lubricated and cushioned by what substance?
Synovial fluid- Absorbs impacts Lubricates joint
- What structures help determine or limit the range of motion of a joint?
Ligaments Bone Shape(Menisci Knee) Tendons Cartilage Fat
- Which part of the human body can perform opposition/reposition movements?
Fingers hand muscles
- Which joint offers the greatest ROM?
Shoulders
- What skeletal features help limit the movement of the elbow to a single plane (flexion/extension)?
The elbow Trochlear notch
- What is the difference between rheumatism and arthritis?
Rheumatism is pain/stiffness at joints or muscles
Arthritis = joint inflammation
What are the causes of Arthritis
Causes = bacterial/viral infections, injury, loss of viscosity (cushioning), wear and tear
