women live longer than men, but in poorer health
What are the reasons for the gender paradox?
age, and money; women don’t make a lot of money therefore they receive poorer treatment

heart disease, cancer
What are the gender differences in heart disease?
women develop heart disease 10-15 years later than men, but by 60 women have same risk as men who are 60 because of menopause
What are the unchangeable risk factors for heart disease?
gender, age, and family history
What are the changeable risk factors for heart disease?
being overweight, high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, hormones.
What are the treatments of heart disease?
women receive less aggressive treatment than men, because they do have the classic symptoms, are told that they are not having a heart attack, their having a panic attack
What are the rates of Breast Cancer?
1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in a lifetime. 70 % of women diagnosed with breast cancer will survive
What are the risk factors of breast cancer?
age, family history especially first degree, gynecological events; early menarche, late menopause, having children after 30, smoking and drinking alcohol, weight, exercise

breast self-exam, clinical breast exam, mammogram,
What is the treatment of breast cancer?
mastectomy (removal of breast, lymph nodes), lumpectomy( removal of lump, some tissue), radiation or chemotherapy, new maintenance drugs.
What is the psychological impact for heart disease in women, men?
women who are more anxious, depressed are linked to heart disease. Men, women who are hostile are prone heart disease
