The right to vote in political elections
Suffragist
A member of the womens suffrage movement, anybody. Usually using peaceful ways to protest.
Suffragette
A women seeking the right to vote through militant protests or illegal acts (riots)
Anti-suffragist
Anybody who doesn’t support the women suffrage movement. (Women Stay Home)

Took from 1916 to 1951 First teh prairies Bc and Ontario Nova Scotia Federal suffrage Yukon and New Brunswick PEI Québec Teh northwest territory (Nunavut is apart)
What changed in women rights in teh 1960’s
Asian, black and indigenous women were given the right to vote and joined teh definition of «ALL» women.
What did people used to think of men
They were equipped for the public life and were combatant
What did people used to think of the women
We’re meant yo be taking care of teh family, stay home and we’re pure and tender
What does separate spheres mean
That men and women have separate roles in society

If you were from a country which Canada was in war with you couldn’t be in Canada

Women were allowed to sit in the House of commons and vote but not run for prime minister, president, etc.

What did the famous five encounter when trying ti get women elected
Some weren’t recognized as persons
How did the famous five accomplish their goal
They went to England House of Commons to argue the persons cause. They recognized that women were persons
How were factory owners able to staff their new factories
New immigrants who had no jobs
Less labour was needed since they had machines
People moving to cities -> cheaper labour
People needed to support their families
