Q

Yang Ming Channel heat is cleared by venting. Why does Yang Ming Bowel heat require a different methhod?

A

YM channel: qi level heat, formless heat, get rid of by venting.
YM bowel: deeper heat - drain downward because it is a formed heat actually in the interior. Need to help purge because our body’s natural tendency is to move up and the heat is creating a qi stagnation. We need to “give it a kick”.

Q

Why is Da Cheng Qi Tang said to ‘rescue the yin’?

A

Da Cheng Qi Tang DOES NOT ACTUALLY TONIFY THE YIN - but using Da Huang or Da Cheng Qi Tang will remove the stagnating heat that is leading to the Yin deficiency - so it can be said to rescue the yin - but it doesn’t actually nourish or replenish the yin.
