(these are just some key picked parts)
What was the treaty of Versailles
- Treaty of Versailles was signed by Germany and the Allied Nations on June 28, 1919, ending World War One. The treaty required that Germany pay financial reparations, disarm, lose territory,(Rhineland) and give up all of its overseas colonies. Reducing the army to 100 000 men and taking land from Germany, especially the Rhineland, greatly reduced morale.
Forcing responsibility upon the
Germans for starting the War was also
painful.
But the most disastrous condition was
the war reparations they had to
pay—a big fine.
But Germany said ah hell nah
when was the league of nations
and the problems within
First worldwide organization who wanted to maintain world wide peace which was created on Jan 10th 1920
Problems with the league of Nations
-Decisions required that all countries agreed which was a rare occasion
- The League did not have an army to enforce its decisions
- Unable to prevent major accidents
What was the great depression
Stock market crash in 1929
-caused people to go broke and often commit suicide and lose their jobs
- people started leaning towards dictatorships that promised prosperity because they were enraged with Germany falling apart.
- Germany then accepted hitler cuz they didnt wanna pay fine lmaooo and needed to create jobs
Germany takes over Austria
-not a single shot was fired and it was peaceful
March 12, 1938
Germany invades Czechoslovakia
after Austria hitler wanted to beef with Czechoslovakia
- Czechoslovakia was a country that rose after WW1. 1939
Munich Agreement when was it? who was there what happenend and what happened after
- September 1938 Britan, France, Italy and Germany met to discuss Hitlers aim in Munich
-Hitler said he would only take Sudetenland and if Czechoslovakia
falls apart, then he would govern it.
-Chamberlain went back to London
with “the piece of paper, securing
Peace in our Time.”
The Appeasement and what does it mean
-Appeasement means to agree to
whichever demands seem reasonable
in order to prevent war.
many Britons believed that Versailles
was too harsh.
-So off Chamberlain goes to Munich to
sign an agreement with Hitler.
Nazi soviet pack
-On August 23, 1939, Hitler and Stalin signed the Nazi—Soviet
Pact.
-10 year neutrality pact.
The need for his lebensraum(land necessary for development) made it necessary for him to have land. He chose Poland.
- Hitler promised Stalin that if he invaded Poland, he would
eliminate the “undesirables” and give Stalin the eastern part of
the country. Stalin agreed, and actually invades Poland from the
east.
