- Women, children, the old & the sick were to be sent for ‘special treatment.’
- The young and fit would go through a process called ‘destruction through work.’
- Shooting was too inefficient as the bullets were needed for the war effort
- On arrival the Jews would go through a process called ‘selection.
- Jews were to be rounded up and put into transit camps called
- Conditions in the Ghettos were designed to be so bad that many die whilst the rest would be willing to leave these areas in the hope of better conditions
The Jews living in these Ghettos were to be used as a cheap source of labour.

Why was the Wannsee Conference held?
Shootings and the ghettoes were seen as ‘inefficient’ ways of killing millions of people. Therefore a conference was held at Wannsee, near Berlin, to work out a better way of killing the Jews. It was decided to set up death camps to do this.’’
Who led the Wannsee Conference? Why were they important to Hitler and the Nazi Party?
Reinhard Heydrich lead the conference and he was important to Hitler as he was very loyal to the party and the cause
The conference was important as the powers in the Nazi party discussed the “Final Solution” in how to deal with the Jewish problem forever, finally being able to act on Hitler’s vision of a world free without these problematic beings
