A
  • CNV (dirty green/grey colour)
  • PED
  • Haemorrhages
  • Hard exudates
  • End Stage: Disciform scarring

How does WET AMD occur?

A
  • The accumulation of drusen causes breaks in Bruch’s membrane.
  • The drusen presence promotes ischaemia/hypoxia of RPE.
  • This triggers release of VEGF-> new vessel growth
