WEEK4- Paediatric BLS Flashcards
What’s so different with adult bls and paediatric bls
smart is the same
pat (end of bed assessment) is different
paediatric A in the abc has a TICLES (tone,interactivity,consolability,look/gaze,speech/cry) the b and c is the same.
everything else is the same.
what should you do after confirming its a cardiac arrest
conduct 5 rescue breaths
then re assess
conduct 15 compressions to 2 ventilations 10 times then reassess
why do we conduct 5 rescue breaths on paediatrics
because the majority of paediatric cardiorespiratory arrests aren’t caused by primary cardiac problems.
paediatric cardiorespiratory arrests are usually secondary to other causes, usually breathing problems (hypoxia).
how do you conduct paediatric cpr
still the same rate (100-120bpm)
around 4-5cm depth
use one hand not 2
arms should stay straight
2 fingers for an infant under 1 year.
