Q

What is Patent Ductus Arteriousis (PDA)?

A

Usually seen in German Shepherds, Poodles, Irish Setters
Artery does not close up so blood goes into wrong areas in the heart
Fixed with surgery of chest, murmurs are VERY obnoxious, hereditary so the animal cannot be bred

16
Q

What is pleural fluid accumulation?

A

Fluid inside pleural space, not in lungs. We can usually drain fluid out, usually use 3-way stop cock.

17
Q

What is pleural air accumulation?

A

“pneumothorax” seen in blunt force trauma

18
Q

What is diaphragmatic disruption?

A

Diaphragm is torn, intestines shot through there so we need to push intestines down to where they belong

19
Q

What is pneumonia?

A

Infected fluids in the alveoli and lower airways, looks “patchy”

20
Q

What is a pulmonary edema?

A

Non infected fluid in the alveoli

21
Q

What is tumor metastasis?

A

Highly pigmented, highly malignant
