Party
Generally permanent organization formed to contest elections (usually) with a goal of occupying positions of authority
Elite/Cadre Parties
Earliest modern parties that started to develop local organizational structure (membership solely granted to elites)
Mass Parties
Parties with an increased number of participants
Catch-All Parties
Parties that try to win support from a larger number of emphasis; emphasis on a decrease in party rhetoric in order to achieve these goals
Single-Issue Parties
Parties that center around a single political issue (i.e. the Green Party)
Party System
Interaction between significant political parties
Single-Party System
Party system in which there is only one viable political party (i.e. Russia)
Two-Party System
Party system in which there are two viable political parties (i.e. the United States)
Multi-Party System
Party system in which there are multiple viable political parties (i.e. the United Kingdom)
