Q

You want to determine if triceps is responsible for Dominic’s pain – i.e., a tear in the olecranon insertion. What test could you use?

  1. Passively move Dominic’s elbow into full flexion
  2. Passively move Dominic’s shoulder and elbow into full flexion
  3. Passively move Dominic’s elbow into full flexion and pronation
  4. Passively move Dominic’s elbow into full flexion and supination
  5. Passively move Dominic’s elbow into full shoulder flexion and supination

2

Think of the triceps stretch over head. We flex the shoulder and flex the elbow. Doing this slowly will help determine a tear at the olecranon insertion of the triceps brachii.
