Five-Ravens Five Forms of Power 1959

A

These are five types of social powers, not mutually inclusive.

  1. Legitimate Power- Play a role, you are given a responsibility through a position.
  2. Reward Power: The capacity to bestow reward.
  3. Cohesive power: Used to obtain compliance
  4. Referent power: Charismatic power, interpersonal influence. Approval, when people want to follow you. Not what you give.
  5. Expert Power: You must depend on the exclusivity of their expertise.
  6. Informational power: Ability to control information required to make a decision or aquire something.
