Week 7 (lectures) Flashcards
Explain what the sharing economy is, using a few examples
- Rising pattern in consumption behaviour.
- GO scooters
- Temporary access
- Redistribution of material goods
- Money/space/time
What are the different levels of automation?
0 - lane departure warning
1 - driver and automated systems share control of the vehicle
2 - automated vehicle takes full control of the vehicle: accelerating, breaking, steering
3 - within a specific operational design domain (highway) the car is able to drive itself. Outside the zone: you need to control yourself
4 - driver can sleep or leave the drivers seat
5 - nu human intervention required at all
Name advantages of the sharing economy
- optimizing use of existing private garages as intermediate parking spots or newly develop parking lots outside center
- Avs could service the last mile between key transit stations and many more destinations than regular bus feeder services
- Avs could leverage transit by combining private and public modes in seamless moving web.
Name a few barriers of sharing.
- Strong regulation
o Ride sharing has been rejected by governments
o Strict rules in some countries for people becoming ride sharing drivers that require a lot of checks to be completed/
Fees and insurance levies to be paid
o Long held norms and values that include the desire to maintain indepence: people always owned cars.
o Lack of critical mass of users.
What is an example of level 0 automation
lane departure warning
What is an example of level 1 automation
- Cruisecontrol
- hands on
- Park assistance
- Recolition warning
What is an example of level 2 automation
- car drives brakes etc… by itself
** ‘hands off’ - Driver should be ready to intervene.
What is an example of level 3 automation
- Texting or watching movie.
- Eyes off
- Must be able to intervene within some limited time.
- Within specific operational design domain (highway) the car is able to drive itself. In the city the car will give a signal control again.
- Highway chauffeur
- Automated system is a ‘co-driver’ that will alert you in an orderly fashion when its your turn to drive.
What is an example of level 4 automation
- Mind off
- Driver may even go to sleep or leave the drivers seat.
- Only limited in limited spatial areas.
- Completely drive itself in certain circumstances.
- Letting go on highway scenarios.
- ‘hands on the wheel’ in city: support systems are present (level 1)/
- Transportation zone from highway to city
- Automated parking
What is an example of level 5 automation
- Steering wheel optional
- Car will drive with or without driver without a steering wheel and brakes. Human intervention is not even possible no more.
- Self driving uber
