Antibiotic for blepharitis

A

Systemic antibiotics
- Anti-inflammatory effect if symptoms of posterior blepharitis (especially with rosacea) not controlled despite adequate eyelid hygiene

If PREGNANT
- Erythromycin 500mg

Children <8years
- liquid suspension 200mg/5ml

Antibiotic for periorbital (Preseptal) cellulitis

A

Flucloxacillin 500mg (12.5mg/kg for children)
Dicloxacillin 500mg

CEFALEXIN
- preferred to dicloxacillin as its better tolerated
500mg (12.5mg/kg for children)

CINDAMYCIN
For patients with intermediate or delayed severe hypersensitivity to penicillin
450mg
