What is the purpose of the Competing Values Framework?
To diagnose and facilitate change in org. culture
What can the Competing Values Framework be used for (3)?
1: To change culture + align before you change other aspects, 2: Diagnose/identify culture (strength, dominance, congruence), 3: Set (different) direction
What four axes are taken into account in the Competing Values Framework?
Flexibility (discretion, dynamism) vs. Stability (order, control) and Internal focus (integration, unity) vs. External focus (differentiation, rivalry)
What four cultures are part of the Competing Values Framework (+ order)?
Adhocracy (creative) -> Clan (collaborative) -> Hierarchy (controlling) -> Market (competing)
What is ‘OCAI’?
Org. Culture Assessment Inventory, assesses 6 cultural elements by asking q’s to identify underlying attributes/assumptions of org and make a Culture Profile.
What 6 cultural elements does the OCAI assess?
1: Dominant characteristics (of org.), 2: leadership style + approach, 3: Management (treatment) employees, 4: Org. glue, 5: Strategic emphasis, 6: Criteria of success
