Dysuria
Painful or difficult urination. Often associated with an infection or partial obstruction
Anuria
Failure of the kidneys to produce urine
<100mL/day. Associated with CHF or kidney failure
Urgency
Feeling the need to urinate immediately . Often associated with UTI or diabetes
Oliguira
Scant production of urine; output >100, but <400mL/day
Urinary retention
Inability to empty the bladder completely. Often associated with obstruction, inflammation, anxiety or meds
Hematuria
Blood in urine (gross or microscopic). Often associated with stones, trauma, or infection
Residual urine
Retaining of urine in the bladder after voiding
Nocturia
Frequent urination after bedtime. Often associated with too much fluid intake or a variety of cardio or urinary problems
Polyuria
Excessive urination
Frequency
Feeling the need to urinate <every two hours; associated with UTI or diabetes
Enuresis
Incontinence of urine; used to describe bed wetting
Neurogenic bladder
The loss of normal bladder function caused by damage to part of the envoys system
Stress
Leakage of small volumes of urine caused by sudden increase in intra-abdominal pressure, such as coughing, sneezing or laughing with a full bladder or weak musculature
Urge
Involuntary passage of urine after a strong sense of urgency caused by: decreased bladder capacity, increased fluid intake or infection. Accompanied by frequency to urinate
Overflow
Loss of small amount of urine (20-30mL) due to an over-distended bladder. Caused by fecal impaction, prostate enlargement, or diabetes
