What are the 3 cueing systems?
Graphophonic, syntactic and semantic.
What is the sociocultural model of literacy?
It describes the social and cultural context which encompasses the learner. It is influenced by the subject matter, language mode, physical circumstances and roles and relationships.
What are the roles of the reader/writer?
- Text encoder/decoder- code breaking the alphabet and phonics associated.
- Text participant- prior knowledge which contributes to the meaning drawn (literal and figurative).
- Text user- the message or purpose taken by the reader.
- Text analyst- analysing the underlying bias, opinions and points of view present in the text.
What internal and external factors influence planning and programming?
Internal factors include the teacher’s personal philosophy, their perception of students/school/education and their self-efficacy as a teacher.
External factors include the school and their aims, rationals and profile, the local community, students and parents as well as state and national requirements.
What kinds of things need to be reflected in a plan?
The teacher’s personal philosophy, differentiation practices, the schools rational and goals, assessment and reporting.
What skills encompass ‘literacy’?
Literacy includes a variety of skills - reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing and representing (as outlined in the syllabus).
