What occurs during the first stage of the injury cycle?

A

Prevention - The combination of intrinsic and extrinsic factors increase the chance of injury compared to one in isolation. This stage is about minimising the chance of injury from occuring

Incident phase - Assess the injury
Non Responsive = DRSABCD
ON-Field = STOP
OFF-Field = TOTAPS

What is STOP?

A

S - stop athlete from moving or participation
T - talk to the athlete, what happened? where does it hurt? can you keep playing?
O - Observe body language, injury site for swelling or discolouration, compare to normal
P - Prevent further injury with TOTAPS
