A document you can view using a browser. It may contain text, images, videos and hyperlinks to other web pages and files.

What universal language is used to produce the layout of web pages.

A

Hypertext Markup Language (HTML)

  • Not a programming language
  • Contains codes called “tags” that a web browser uses to present the text and images on the web page. The browser then interprets these tags to produce and format the web page for you to view.
  • Tags are used to label headings, paragraphs, numbered lists, quotations, tablets, hyperlinks, forms and frames.

A web browser is an application software that allows you to view webpages. 
Eg. Google Chrome
       Microsoft Edge
       Microsoft Internet Explorer
       Mozilla Firefox
       Opera
       Apple Safari 
NB: These browsers allow you to view the HTML files but not create them.
