What is a benefit of the arrector pili muscle?
Keeps skin warmer when stimulated by cold or another stimulus. Goosebumps cause warm pockets of air under the skin. Muscle contraction also helps disperse protective lipids from the sebaceous gland to the skin and hair.
What is the difference between lanugo and vellus hair?
Lanugo is soft downy hair found on a fetus, it sheds after birth and is replaced by vellus hair (peach fuzz) and terminal hair.
