Q

WEp3 - Building Level Water Metering

A

Intent: locate and reduce water leakage in system

All potable water sources must be metered
e.g. public supply, on-site well and on-site potable water treatment systems

Must share annual summaries w/USGBC every 5 years

Q

WEc4 - Submetering

A

Intent: locate and reduce water leakage in system

Requires 2 or more permanently installed system-level water meters for the following subsystems:
1. Irrigation water (80% of area)
2. Indoor plumbing fixtures and fittings (80%+)
3. Domestic hot water (80%+)
4. Boilers that use 100,000+ gal/yr
5. Reclaimed water (100%)
6. Process water (80%+)
    Humidification systems
    Dishwashers
    Clothes washers
    Pools

Q

WEc3 - Cooling Tower Water Use

A

Intent: maximize the amount of times water can cycle through the system before being removed by blowdown.

Requires one-time potable water analysis to determine the concentration of at least 5 dissolved solids and ensure max limits are not surpassed.
