Q

EAp1 + EAc1 - Commissioning

A

Intent: ensure that the building owner gets desired/targeted performance out of energy efficiency systems

Process used to verify that the project’s energy-related systems were installed, calibrated and are performing according to the OPR, BOD and construction documents

EAp1 - Fundamental Commissioning and Verification
EAc1 - Enhanced Commissioning

Q

EAc1 - Enhanced Commissioning

A

Path 1 (3 points)

  • Review contractor submittals
  • Verify inclusion of systems manual, occupant training reqs in construction docs and seasonal testing
  • Review building operations 10 months after substantial completion
  • Develop ongoing commissioning plan

Path 2 (4 pts)
Achieve Path 1 AND:
- Include procedures in commissioning plan

Q

EAp2 + EAc2 - Energy Performance

A

Intent: establish energy performance baseline and encourage reduction of energy demand

3 Paths:
1. Whole Building Energy Simulation
Energy model of building compared to ASHRAE baseline model.
2. Prescriptive Compliance Path
ASHRAE 50% advanced energy design guide
3. Prescriptive Compliance Path

Q

EAp3 + EAc3 - Energy Metering

A

Prereq: requires permanently installed meters which can aggregately provide total building energy consumption which can be compiled into monthly/annual summaries and shared with USGBC for 5 years

Credit: requires more advanced system for all individual energy end uses that represent 10% or more of total annual consumption. They must:

  • Record at hour intervals
  • Record demand and consumption
  • Transmit data to remote location

Q

EAp4 + EAc6 - Refrigerant Management

A

Intent: reduce global warming and ozone damage

Refrigerants w/low ODP tend to have high GWP

Requires zero use of CFC-based refrigerants in new buildings.

Enhanced credit: requires ODP + GWP under a specified value
