Priority of EICAS messages
- Warning Messages (Red) - can not be cancelled
- Caution Messages (Amber) - can be cancelled or recalled
- Advisory Messages (Amber; indented one space) - can be cancelled or recalled
- Memo Messages (white) - can not be cancelled
When does Terrain automatically display?
- a look–ahead terrain alert occurs, and
- TERR not selected on either ND, and
- respective ND is in MAP, MAP CTR, VOR, or APP mode
How many EFIS/EICAS Interface units (EIUs)
- 3 x EIUs (L, C, R)
- all received information from airplane systems
- only 1 provides information to EICAS displays
Meaning of caret (>) ahead of alert message
- Respective alert message has no procedural steps
- Action is Obvious
- informational
Takeoff CONFIG Warning
- flaps not set for Takeoff
- Main Body Gear not centers
- parking break set
- speedbreak lever not DN
- stab trim not set for takeoff
CONFIG GEAR warning
Any gear not down and locked, and:
- and thrust lever idle below 800 RA, or
- flaps 25 or greater
CONFIG SPOILERS
- speedbreak lever beyond ARM position
- thrust at climb or greater for more that 3 sec
When is Predictive Windshear Alerting enabled
On Ground/Takeoff:
- selecting WX Radar switch on EFIS control panel; or
- thrust levers 2 or 3 set for takeoff
In Flight w/ WX Radar switch pushed or not pushed:
- radar scans for windshear below 2300 RA
- PWS alerts below 1200 RA
PWS Alert Area (warnings)
Ground: 1/2 mile wide, 3 miles aead
In Flight: 1/2 mile wide, 1.5 miles ahead
When are immediate windshear alerts enabled?
- Active after rotation
- enabled below 1500’ RA
Caution and Warning/Fire Bell Inhibition
Caution: 80 knts ——> Vr + 20 or 400 AGL
Warning and Fire Bell: V1 ——> V1 + 25 or 400 AGL
Master Caution and Beeper inhibition
80 knts ——> 400’ RA or 20 secs after rotation
PWS caution alert inhibition
Takeoff: 80 knts ——> 400 RA
Landing: 400’ ——> 80 knots
PWS warning alert inhibition
Takeoff: 100 knts ——> 50’ RA
Landing: 50’ RA ——> 100 knts
Approximate timer from conflict aircraft when TCAS RA or TA is triggered
RA - 20 to 30 seconds
TA - 25 to 45 seconds
Time to I pack with Red PULL UP is displayed on PFDs (“TERRAIN, TERRAIN, PULL UP”)
20 to 30 secs from impact
Time to impact when Amber TERRAIN message on both NDs (“CAUTION TERRAIN”)
40 - 60 seconds from projected impact
“GO AROUND, WINDSHEAR AHEAD”
- windshear predicted within 1.5 miles and directly ahead
- below 1,200’ RA
“WINDSHEAR, WINDSHEAR, WINDSHEAR”
- Immediate Windshear detected by GPWS
- enabled below 1,500 RA
