A

A benign lesion that is caused by frequent microtrauma to the vocal cords which leads to oedematous swelling and the development of fibrotic scars

A
  • Low-pitched, whispery voice
  • Hoarseness
  • Altered vocal range

What is typically seen on laryngoscopy in vocal cord nodules?

A
  • Bilateral lesions at the junction of the anterior 1/3 and posterior 2/3 of the vocal folds
  • Symmetric, pinhead-sized, pale nodules
  • Variable colour, contour, and/or shape

  • Conservative management (voice rest, smoking cessation, treat GORD)
