What is Meniere disease?
A
Impaired endolymph resorption that results in endolymph hydrops (accumulation of fluid in the endolymphatic sac)

Which clinical features make up the Meniere triad?
A
- Peripheral vertigo
- Tinnitus
- Asymmetric fluctuating sensorineural hearing loss

Besides the Meniere triad, what other clinical features may be present?
A
- N+V
- Ear fullness
- Spontaneous horizontal rotatory nystagmus

What is the management for an acute attack (Meniere’s)?
A
Buccal or IM prochlorperazine

What advice should be given to patients with Meniere disease?
A
Contact DVLA - should cease driving until they have good control of symptoms
