Electoral college
A unique American institution created by the constitution that provides for the selection of the president by electors chosen by the state parties
The vote usually reflects popular majority (winner-take-all applies to large states)

A collection of 85 articles by Alexander Hamilton, John jay, and James Madison under the name Publis to defend the constitution

Popular sovereignty
the principle that the authority of a state and its government is created and sustained by the consent of its people, through their elected representatives
Ratification
The process by which a Constitutional amendment, or other document is officially put into place
Supremacy clause
Article 6 of the constitution which makes the constitution, national laws, and treaties supreme over state laws when the national government acts within constitutional limits
Unicameral legislature
A legislature with one house
Intrastate commerce
Commerce which only the states could regulate. Stemmed from doctrine of dual federalism.
Bicameral legislature
A legislature divided into two houses
