Dissolved in water and readily used, quickly excreted
Vitamin B 1,2,3,6,12, vitamin C
Fat soluble
Absorbed with fats in the diet
stored in the liver
Excreted by feces
Toxic levels (hypervitaminosis) - accumulate in body
Vitamin A, D, E, K
Vitamin A
Essential for vision and night vision
Adverse effects- indigestion, notices in bones, mucous membranes, liver and skin
Vitamin B12
For deficiency, anemia
Adverse effects- itching, diarrhea, fever
Vitamin D
Absorbs calcium and phosphorus
Used for deficiency, osteomalacia, osteoarthritis
Adverse effects- GI tract (nausea, vomiting, anorexia, cramps, constipation) or CNS (fatigue, weakness, headache, drowsiness)
Vitamin K
Defunding results in coagulation disorders
Used for deficiency and supplement
Adverse effects- hypersensitivity or anaphylaxis
Vitamin B3
Used for dislipidemia
Adverse Effects- hepatotoxicity, flushing, upset GI
Vitamin C
Regulation of bone teeth
Used for deficiency, urinary acidifier, coming cold
Adverse Effects- nausea, vomiting, headache, abdominal cramps, scurvylike symptoms
