Visceral Nervous System Flashcards
What are the two divisions of the Motor nervous system?
Somatic (Voluntary) Visceral (Involuntary)(Autonomic nervous system)
Describe the location and route of a pre-ganglion neuron
The preganglion neuron nucleus is in the Lateral Anterior part of the gray matter horn. It travels down the anterior root and anterior nerve proper in its respective ramus to the autonomic ganglion where it synapses.
Describe the location and route of a post-ganglion neuron.
The nucleus is housed in the Autonomic Ganglion. Once it receives a synapse signal, the axon travels down the nerve root to its respective innervated organ.
what type of organs do visceral nerves innervate?
Glands Organs Smooth muscle
What direction do the visceral motor nerves travel?
Efferent.
What direction do Visceral sensory nerves travel?
Afferenct from sensation.
