January 1968, the Vietcong launched a military assault that the Americans didn’t see coming and they managed to claim 200 towns and villages in S Vietnam.

Gradually removed troops from Vietnam
What was the Geneva agreement?
In 1954 the Viet Minh managed to defeat France/ S Korean forces which was finalised in the Geneva agreement which said that France had to remove their forces and Vietnam would be divided along the 17th parallel. Also in 2 years an election was to be help deciding on the ruler of all of Vietnam
Before the US sent soldiers into the war what did they contribute to it?
Lots of money and they sent advisors
