Who ruled each part of Korea?
Kim il sung in the north (communist)
Syngman Rhee in the south (ANTI COMMUNIST)
Why was America supporting South Korea?
As Syngman Rhee was anti communist so in order to prevent the domino theory they wanted to stop Kim il Sung
When did North Korea first invade South?
1950, they were at an advantage as US refused to supply South with weapons fearing the south would start a war.
When did China become communist?
1949
What did Truman ask the UN Security Council for?
To back South Korea to push back North Korean forces and maintain the divide.
Why was the USSR missing from the security council?
As they were boycotting UN over China being denied their seat on the council
When North Korea invaded South, where did they conquer?
Everywhere except PUSAN
In a matter of months after North Korea invaded South Korea what happened?
(1950)
A counter attack was launch meaning that South Korea was fighting back (backed now by UN)
Then one month later they reached the 38th parallel

Why did South Korea and US continue to invade North?
As MacArthur wanted to not only contain but abolish communism so he wanted to push on- Truman said yes!

What did MacArthur think about Chinese intervention?
It wasn’t a likely thing to happen and just wasn’t a big deal
