before 2009, child victims weren’t included
not entirely representative of the whole country (only a sample)
despite 75% response rate, the other 25% maybe important data
Islington Crime Survey (1986)
focuses on specific geographical areas and the impact of crime on people’s lives
it uncovers how much crimes shapes lives

Limitations of Islington Crime Survey:

accuracy relies on memory and honesty
the threshold of what a crime is may differ for some
low response rates = can’t generalise
non virgins don’t respond
