and caring about what they think
violating the norms of society would go against the expectations that others have for you

refers to having responsibilities e.g. job, house and possessions
people obey rules due to fearing the consequences
the risk is too great, people have too much to lose

refers to being part of a community e.g. workplace or social group
people who are too busy and occupied toco after deviance
they have purpose

Social Bonds - Belief
involves subscribing to a common value system within a culture e.g. religious beliefs or society’s general morals: values
these beliefs develop through socialisation and prevent people considering deviance due to being ‘wrong’
