Definition
A
Inflammation of vestibular nerve (& labyrinth in labyrinthitis)
-Recent viral infection

Clinical Features
A
VERTIGO (can be sudden onset)
-recurrent vertigo attacks lasting hours -> days
Labyrinthitis = hearing loss/nausea and vomiting

Management
A
If hearing loss
-Audiometry and ENT referral if sudden hearing loss
CONSERVATIVE
-Encourage acitvity during attack for estibular compensation
MEDICAL
-Prochlorprazine or antihistamines to manage symptoms
SURGICAL
-Depending on cause (myringotomy, cholesteatoma removal)
