Characterised by excessive pressure and progressive diation of endolymphatic system

Severe disabling VERTIGO
Tinnitus

Aural fullness (ear pressure)

Audiogram with persistent attacks showing low frequency hearing loss

Management

A

-ENT assessment is required to confirm the diagnosis

MEDICAL
Acute = Prochlorperazine (buccal/intramuscular)
Prevention = betahistine (vasodilator), intratympanic steroids

SURGICAL

  • Ventilation tbe insertion
  • Vetibular nerve section
  • Labyrinthectomy
  • Endolamphatic sac decompression
