What is a deceased donation?
A human declared to be dead & from whom cells, tissues or organs are recovered
What is a living donation?
A living human from whom cells, tissues or organs are removed for the purpose of transplantation
What is donor after brain death (DBD)?
Irreversible cessation of hemispheric & brainstem neurological functions
BD diagnosis requires presence of presistent coma, absence of brainstem reflexes and lack of ability to breathe independently
What is DCD?
Donor after cardiac (circulatory) death (non-heart beating organ donation)
Retrieval of organs when death diagnosed using cardio respiratory criteria
Uncontrolled or controlled whether circulatory arrest occurs spontaneously or after medical therapy limitation
