Enable

Example: A summer job will enable you to pay for the course you need to take.
Passive
Acted upon by outside forces; inactive; meek
Example: Rather than speaking her mind, she remained passive said nothing about the situation.
Deprive
To take away, often by force
Example: No person may be deprived of his liberty with due process of law.
Persist
To continue, especially against opposition
Example: despite the rebuffs, he persisted in his effort to befriend the disturbed youngster.
Prohibit
To prevent by authority, to forbid
Example: The law prohibits unleashed dogs on the beach
Premature
Not yet mature or ripe; happening too soon
Example: As she got to know him better, she decided that her initial judgement of him had been premature.
Demolish
To destroy completely
Example: The explosion demolished the building; nothing was left but ashes.
Neglectful
Careless, heedless
Example: Because he was neglectful of his duties as principle, he was asked to resign by the board of education.
Vacant
Empty, unoccupied
Example: The vacant lot was overgrown with weeds.
Gullible
Easily deceived
Example: Naive people are often gullible.
Restrict
To confine, keep within limits
Example: Use of the computer room is restricted to authorized personnel.
Compromise
A settlement of a difference in which both sides give up something
Example: We are willing to make some concessions in order to reach a compromise.
Diverse
Varied, unlike
Example: A realistic cross-section must include citizens of diverse backgrounds and opinions.
Leisurely
Without haste; slow
Example: The lovers took a leisurely stroll around the pond.
Protest
To speak out against, to object, to complain
Example: The animal activists protested loudly outside of the store that sold fur coats.
