VENTRICULAR TACHYCARDIA Flashcards
1
Q
What is ventricular tachycardia
A
Very fast heartbeat with irregular pulses in between
2
Q
Pulseless ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation
A
= resuscitation
3
Q
What are the two types of Ventricular tachycardia/VF? What do they mean?
A
- Non-Sustained
- symptoms stop spontaneously - Sustained
- symptoms last for more than 30 seconds
4
Q
Unstable sustained ventricular tachycardia
A
Direct current cardioversion → IV Amiodarone → repeat current cardioversion
5
Q
Stable ventricular tachycardia
A
IV Amiodarone → direct current cardioversion
6
Q
Non-sustained ventricular tachycardia
A
BB
7
Q
Patients at high risk of cardiac arrest require maintenance therapy
A
Can add Beta-blockers / amiodarone (in combination with a standard beta-blocker)
