1
Q

What is it?

A

Lots of small ventricular contractions rather than 1 big contraction- muscle fibres do not all contract at the same time

2
Q

how does it develop

A

Heart becomes stressed
Tissue heterogeneity- cells act differently
PVC- premature ventricular contraction- more than 3 in a row

Q

Indications for ICD

A
Temporary:
-through electrolytes in the skin
-prophylactic when patient at high bradycardia risk
-intermittant bradycardia
Permanent:
-through implanted device
-2nd/3rd degree block
-AV block becomes associated with neurodegenerative disease
-Sinus node disease
-Syncope with RBB/trifascicular block
-carotid sinus hypersensitivity
