Ischaemia Flashcards
1
Q
Definition
A
Interrupted blood flow to the myocardium which leads to interrupted supply of 02 and nutrients
2
Q
Different types of hypoxia
A
- hypoxic: poor 02 inspiration levels or poor Pa02
- anaemic: poor transportation of 02
- cytotoxic: good inspiration of 02, poor ability to absorb at tissue level
- stagnant; abnormal delivery of 02 e.g. occlusion of vessel
3
Q
Aetiology of ischaemia
A
Poor blood flow:
- thrombosis
- embolism
- cardiac failure
- trauma
4
Q
Issues relating to supply
A
- inspired 02
- pulmonary function
- blood constituents
- blood flow
- endothelium lining disruption
- tissue mechanism
5
Q
Issues relating to demand
A
- increased exercise
- increased stress levels
6
Q
Consequences of ischaemia
A
-reduced 02 supply
-increased anaerobic respiration
-cell death
affects tissues differently depending on structure:
-dysfunction
-pain
-physical damage
