Ventilation System Flashcards
pipes installed to provide flow of air to or from a drainage system
VENT SYSTEM
a pipe or opening used for ensuring the circulation of air in a plumbing system
VENT PIPE
principal artery of the venting system. It is that portion of the vent pipe system serving as terminal for the smaller forms of individual and grouped fixture trap ventilation, sometimes referred to as Collecting Vent Line
MAIN VENT
the horizontal wet venting of one or more sinks or floor drains by means of a common horizontal waste and vent pipe, adequately sized to provide free movement of air above the flow line of the drain.
COMBINATION WASTE AND VENT SYSTEM
that a portion of a vent pipe there wastewater also flows through
WET VENT
A pipe that does not carry liquids or water-borne wastes
DRY VENT
a horizontal vent connecting one or more individual vertical back vents with the vent stack or stack vent
BRANCH VENT
a branch vent for 2 or more traps
GROUP VENT
unit vent or dual vent
COMMON VENT
one vent pipe will serve 2 traps
UNIT VENT/DUAL VENT/COMMON VENT
a group vent pipe that connects to the vent stack
CIRCUIT VENT
vertical vent connection on a horizontal soil or waste pipe branch at a point downstream of the last fixture
LOOP OR CIRCUIT VENT
vertical vent connection on a horizontal soil or waste pipe branch at a point downstream of the last fixture that connects to stack vent
LOOP VENT
vertical vent connection on a horizontal soil or waste pipe branch at a point downstream of the last fixture that connects to vent stack
CIRCUIT VENT
a vertical vent that is a continuation of the drain to which the vent connects
CONTINUOUS VENT
Provides additional circulation of air between the drainage and vent systems. This type of vent is installed to ventilate the soil and waste pipe and the connecting branches rather than the fixture trap.
RELIEF VENT
a pipe connecting upward from a soil or waste stack below the floor and below horizontal connection to an adjacent vent stack. Sometimes referred to as by-pass ventilation
YOKE VENT
Backvent pipe
REVENT PIPE
the extension of a soil or waste stack above the highest horizontal drain
STACK VENT
the vertical vent pipe installed primarily for providing circulation of air
VENT STACK
vents a fixture trap and connects above the fixture served or terminates to open air
INDIVIDUAL VENT
connects directly with an individual trap underneath or behind the fixture
BACKVENT PIPE
a pipe or shaft to convey foul air from a plumbing fixture or a room to the outer air
LOCAL VENT
What is the minimum height of galvanized wrought iron or galvanized steel above ground?
15 cm
What are the two of of determinants of vent pipe size?
length
total number of fixture units
what is the minimum size of vent?
32 mm or 1/2 diameter of drain being served
what is the allowable increase in the length of horizontal portion of vent as long as the pipe is increased one pipe size larger?
1/3
What is the minimum rise of each vent above the highest flood level rim before offsetting horizontally to join the sent stack or stack vent
152 mm
