Veins Flashcards
Occipital a
Arise from the external carotid artery
and feeds the posterior scalp;
Maxillary a
Arise from the external carotid artery
and feeds the teeth, maxilla, oral cavity,
and external ear;
Temporal a
Arise from the external carotid artery
and feeds the chewing muscles, nasal
cavity, scalp, and dura matter;
Facial a
Arise from the external carotid artery
and feeds the skin and muscles of the
face;
Internal carotid a
Receives blood from the common
carotid artery; feeds orbit and about
80% of the cerebrum; Supplies the
cerebral arteries;
External carotid a
Receive blood from common carotid
artery; gives rise to thyroid, lingual,
facial, occipital, maxillary and
superficial temporal arteries;
Vertebral aa
Receive blood from the subclavian arteries; Has small arteries to supply spinal cord and meninges, cervical vertebrae, and deep muscles of the neck; Enters foramen magnum supplying cranial bones and meninges, then converge into the basilar artery.
Superior vena cava
Receives blood from the
brachiocephalic veins. Dumps blood
into the right atrium of the heart.
Brachiocephalic v
Receives blood from the subclavian
vein. Dumps blood into the superior
vena cava.
Subclavian v
Receives blood from the axillary vein.
Dumps blood into the brachiocephalic
vein
Axillary v
Receives blood from the brachial,
cephalic, and basilic veins. At the
lateral margin of the first rib, it turns
into the subclavian vein
Brachial v
Drain blood from the medial and lateral
brachial vein, into one brachial vein,
into the axillary vein.
Ulnar v
Drain blood from the palmar arches
into the medial brachial vein.
Radial v
Drain blood from the palmar arches
into the lateral brachial vein.
Dorsal venous network P
Drains blood from hand into the basilic
and cephalic veins;
