SC-trait
Every performer has a general/overall level of self-belief in sport.
Innate and enduring/stable component of confidence
Competitive orientation
High level of motivation to outperform others.
Everyone has an existing level of competitiveness
SC-State
The confidence that can be shown in a specific situation in sport or level of self-efficacy during competition
SC-state = (SC-trait)+(competitive orientation)
High SC-state = more likely to score because they believe they will and have the skill to do so
Behavioural response
Response to the situation. Skill level of the performance
E.G. Penalty is scored or not
Subjective Perceptions of Outcome
The emotion felt towards the behavioural response.
Positive feelings result in an increase in SC-trait and competitive orientation - negative feelings = decrease in both
