Multi-Store Model Flashcards

1
Q

A

Info in the form of stimuli enters via sensory receptors from the environment. Large Capacity, stores between 0.25-1 second before it is filtered into STM (via Selective attention) or forgotten

Q

STM

A

Important info can be passed into the LTM, encoding the info, Comparison can be made with the LTM to choose a suitable motor programme

Q

LTM

A

Unlimited capacity and permanent duration, movement skills from STM are stored as Motor programmes in LTM, only stored in LTM if it has been rehearsed and has meaning. Info is encoded into LTM and decoded to send send back to STM for action

Evaluation (-)

A

Oversimplified model to help understanding, Interaction between STM and LTM is far more complicated than the model explains
