Planned vaginal birth after caesarean section (VBAC) is an appropriate method of delivery for pregnant women at 37 weeks or greater gestation with a single previous caesarean delivery. VBAC usually has a success rate of around 60-80%.

Risks
Increased risk of uterine rupture (scar rupture)
Increased risk of requiring caesarean section (failed VBAC)
Contraindications ???

A

Classical (vertical) caesarean scar
Previous history of uterine rupture
the usual contraindications to a vaginal delivery (such as major placenta praevia)
