Vasculature Flashcards
What is the main artery pathway in the arm?
Subclavian > axillary > brachial > ulnar/radial
What are the main branches of the subclavian artery?
- Vertebral artery (brain)
- Internal thoracic artery
- Thyrocervical artery (thyroid gland and neck)
What is the route of the vertebral artery in the neck?
C6-1 transverse foramina
» foramen magnum
» unites with other vertebral artery
What do the vertebral arteries form when they unite?
Basilar artery
What is subclavian steal syndrome?
Subclavian artery occlusion proximal to vertebral artery»_space; reversed blood flow
Where does the subclavian artery become the axillary artery?
Lat border of 1st rib
What are the 3 divisions of the axillary artery?
1) Superior to pec minor
2) Deep to pec minor
3) Inferior to pec minor
What are the 2 branches from the 3rd part of the axillary artery?
Post & ant circumflex humeral arteries
Where does the axillary artery become the brachial artery?
Inf border of teres major
What are the 3 branches of the brachial artery?
-Profunda brachii, sup & inf ulnar collateral arteries
Which part of the arm does the profunda brachii supply?
Post compartment (runs in radial groove with radial nerve)
Where does the brachial artery divide and what into?
Cubital fossa
- radial and ulnar arteries
What does the radial artery supply?
Anterolateral forearm (extensors and flexors)
What does the ulnar artery supply?
Medial forearm (flexors and pronators)
Which artery does the common interosseous artery come from?
Ulnar artery
