What is Sturge-Weber Syndrome? What are some risks associated with it?
- Port-wine stain in V1
- may have ocular and neurological abnormalities (glaucoma and seizures)
Who should you refer an infant with a “beard” hemangioma to? Why?
- ENT
- associated with airway hemangiomas—> causing obstruction
What is the first line treatment for Infantile Hemangiomas?
Propranolol (inhibits blood vessel growth and constricts blood vessels in hemangiomas, and decreases endothelial growth factor)
What can spider angiomas be associated with?
*liver disease
also pregnancy and OTC (but these weren’t bolded in her notes)
What can a pyogenic granuloma resemble?
a amelanotic melanoma

What is urticaria? How long do they last?
- Superficial dermal swellings (wheals) due to plasma leakage
- wheals are pruritic
- Individual wheels last no more than 24 hours
What is micropapular urticaria associated with?
Heat, exertion, exercise or stress
What can cause cold urticaria?
-swimming in cold water or severe cold showers
What type of urticaria is associated with pain and swelling? What are the causes of this?
Pressure Urticaria
caused by clothing, jewelry or weight bearing
What is acute angioedema?
-Transient edema of the deep dermal, subcutaneous and submucosal tissues
