What are Beau’s Lines? When are they typically seen?
- transverse depressions of the nail plate due to arrest of the nail matrix
- 2 months after stressful event
Arsenic poisoning can cause what nail disease?
Mee’s Lines (white transverse lines)
What are half and half nails associated with?
Chronic renal failure
What are Terry’s Nails? What are they associated with?
- Cirrhosis
- Most of the nail is white with the most distal part bing pink
What can Yellow Nail Syndrome be due to?
- Lymphedema
- Respiratory distress
What are Muehrcke’s lines? How does this differ from Mee’s Lines?
Muerche’s lines are transverse white lines due to an abnormality in the vascular nailed/vascular bed.
these do NOT move as the nail grows while Mee’s lines do

- Naftin gel
- Ciclopirox nail solution
