Using Transformations to Graph Quadratic Functions Flashcards
How do you use a table to graph Quadratic Functions?
You solve with the table until you have enough points to see both sides of the graph curve.
What is a Quadratic Function?
A function in the form f(x)=a(x-h)^2+k (a =/= 0)
How do you translate a Quadratic Function up or down?
You add + or - k at the end of the equation.
How do you translate a Quadratic Function to the left or right?
You make h a positive or negative number (negative goes right and positive goes left).
What happens when the x is negative in a Quadratic Translation?
The parabola flips over to be upside-down.
How do you write an equation from a description?
You take all of the characteristics from the description and build the equation.
